Police Recover Gear Stolen From DPD Officer

Officers recovered a Dallas police officer's badge and handgun less than 24 hours after it had been taken from her in a carjacking. One suspect is also in custody.

Police said suspect Dominic Mignogna was arrested at the Super 8 Motel around 2:00 a.m. Saturday.

According to Plano police, officers found the victim's stolen car at the hotel. The Plano SWAT Team entered the room where Mignogna was staying. He was taken into custody without incident.

Police found the Dallas officer's handgun and badge inside the room.

It all started around 3:20 a.m. Friday at a Race Trac gas station nearly five miles away at US 75 and East Plano Parkway. The off-duty officer was getting gas when police said a man threatened her with a weapon.  Dallas Police Chief David Brown said the officer was not injured in the incident.

Police released surveillance pictures of the suspect.

Mignogna is from Richardson. He is being held on an Aggravated Robbery Charge.
