Police: Murder Victim Knew Killer

A man found stabbed to death in his home Saturday morning knew his killer, Haltom City police said Sunday.

Police discovered Donald Martin Carroll, 64, dead in his home in the 5000 block of Catalpa Saturday morning.  Officers said they were dispatched there after getting a phone call from someone concerned about his wellbeing.

When officers got to Carroll's home, they said they found him lying in a front room.  Investigators said it was obvious some sort of altercation had occurred.

When questioned Sunday, Haltom City Police Department public information officer Cody Phillips said investigators believe this was not a random act of violence.  They now think the person who killed Carroll knew him and may have been living in the home with him.

Police have a person of interest in mind, but say they are not releasing that person's name at this time.

This is the first homicide investigation in Haltom City this year.
