Police: Lubbock Boy, 10, Dies in Accidental Shooting

Authorities in the Texas Panhandle said a 10-year-old boy has died after an accidental shooting.

The Lubbock Independent School district told KCBD-TV that parents were notified Sunday about the death of Jackson Roberts. Childress police said a 14-year-old boy thought he was playing with an unloaded gun Friday and accidentally shot the Lubbock boy in the left shoulder.

Roberts was taken to a Childress hospital where he later died. He was a fourth-grader at Roscoe Wilson Elementary.

District officials said crisis counselors will be available at the school on Monday.
