Police Looking for Aggressive Armed Robbers

Fort Worth police are searching for two armed men they say robbed a woman at gunpoint at a red light in Fort Worth and, then days later, shot another woman in her car in nearby Forest Hill.

The first attack happened Jan. 27 at about 2:30 a.m. when a 21-year-old female was driving north on Campus Drive in southeast Fort Worth. When she stopped at a red light at East Seminary Road, two men exited the vehicle in front of her. One of the men was armed with a shotgun.

"He says, 'Open the door or we'll shoot,'" said the victim, who NBC 5 has agreed not to identify because she fears for her safety following the aggravated robbery and kidnapping.

One of the men got into her car and they drove several blocks away to a parking lot. Video surveillance shows the men robbing the woman of her cell phone, credit cards and cash. While in the parking lot, police said the men discussed assaulting the victim.

"The whole time I was just hoping they don't kill me," she said. "I just wanted them to leave and I just wanted to get home safe."

The men eventually drove away, allowing the victim to make her way home and call police. She said the attack has changed the way she lives her life.

"I don't want to be out, I don't want to be alone," she said. "When it gets dark, I just get scared."

The second attack happened at 2 a.m. Jan. 30, where suspects matching the descriptions of the first attack shot a female on Hartman Drive, just under Loop 820. The woman was hit in the leg and has been since released from the hospital.

Forest Hill and Fort Worth detectives are investigating the cases together, as the manner in which the men attack is concerning. They think the shot was fired in the second attack before any demands were made and police are not sure why that happened.

"The fact that there were shots fired and someone was hit raises the concern level greatly because these guys are not shy about firing their weapon," Fort Worth Police Department Det. Brian Raynsford said.

Raynsford said the first victim did everything right by following the attackers' demands and that likely kept her alive. But the fact the men were talking about assaulting her is concerning to police.

The first suspect is described as a black, 5 feet 6 inches tall and about 140 pounds with a medium complexion, ski cap and white bandanna covering his face. The second suspect is 6 feet tall and about 150 pounds with a darker complexion, wearing red basketball shorts, ski cap and bandanna. The second suspect is described as having "slanted" eyes.

Police believe the vehicle description will be more helpful to the public. It's a darker colored late 90s or early 2000s four-door sedan with tinted windows. The car resembles a Toyota Corolla, Honda Accord or Nissan Maxima.

Anyone with information is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 817-469-TIPS or Fort Worth Police Det. Brian Raynsford at 817-392-4469.

Police believe the attackers did not know the victims, but followed the first victim before attacking. They are being accused of aggravated robbery and kidnapping.

The first victim is glad the second victim is recovering, but hopes someone steps forward.

"I just want them to be caught so they don't do it to nobody else," she said.

Police said if you suspect someone might be following you, you should call 911 and drive to a well-lit area or follow the operator's instructions on getting to the nearest police station or police officer.
