An investigation is under way after a man apparently killed his parents Wednesday before committing suicide, Irving police said.

Police said the 20-year-old man and his parents were found with gunshot wounds at about 11:15 a.m. at a home in the 9000 block of Jasmine Lane in Valley Ranch.

The man's sister, who is also in her 20s, was not home at the time of the shootings, police said.

Neighbors told police that they did not hear gunshots.

The family had moved to the neighborhood several years ago from a small village in India, according to their friends who were in shock to hear the news.

They described the father as a successful hotel owner, said the family appeared to be a nice, hardworking and religious family.

The victim's names have not been released.
