Police Investigate ATM Theft in Fort Worth

Police are investigating an ATM theft in East Fort Worth early Thursday morning. [[311415221,L]]

Police said three masked ATM thieves used a white Chevy pickup to break into a Circle K gas station in the 1200 block of Oakland Boulevard.

An employee inside the Circle K at the time of the robbery ran across the street to the neighboring Shell station for help. He told NBC 5 the thieves rammed the building at least four times before taking the ATM.

A Dallas police officer later spotted a similar truck at a gas station on Central Expressway at around 5 a.m. The driver, a man in his mid-20's, led police on a brief chase before the driver stopped and ran away, police said. He was captured and arrested shortly after.

Officers found an ATM in the back of the white truck. both were believed to have been stolen, police said.

The driver of the truck in Dallas was seen throwing away gloves as he ran from police, which were later collected as evidence. Only one person was in the truck at the time of the arrest.

Investigators in Dallas and Fort Worth were collaborating to confirm any connection between both incidents. Police said damage to the truck was consistent with the damage at the Circle K in Fort Worth.

There were no immediate reports of injuries.
