Sketch Released of Accused Police Impersonator

Rowlett police have released a sketch of the man they say posed as a police officer and tried to lure a boy playing Pokemon Go in a park Friday morning.[[388716382,C]]

The incident happened at about 11:30 a.m. at Rowlett Community Park, located at 8500 St. Andrews Lane.

A 14-year-old boy told officers a man in a Rowlett police car pulled up to him and told him his mother was looking for him.

The man told the boy to get in the car so he could drive him home.

The child did not believe the alleged police imposter was a real officer and told him he was going to call to confirm if he was an actual police officer.

The man got back into the vehicle and left the park. He was last seen traveling eastbound on Waterview Parkway driving towards Elm Grove Road, according to police.

The boy said the man was not wearing a police officer's uniform, but did have a fake-looking badge clipped to his T-shirt.

The individual was described as a while male in his 30s. He's approximately 5 feet, 6 inches tall, with balding, curly brown hair. He was wearing rimless glasses, an orange T-shirt, blue jeans and cowboy boots.

The boy said the police car was a black and white Dodge Charger with the words "Rowlett Police" on the sides in blue letters. No Rowlett Police vehicles currently in service have blue lettering. The vehicle had a clear light bar mounted on top and no front push bumper.
