Police Hope Surveillance Video Helps Solve Fatal Shooting Outside Convenience Store

Dallas police are looking at surveillance video for clues on who ambushed and gunned down a man Wednesday night in Pleasant Grove.

The shooting happened around 9:45 p.m. outside of Alone Gas Stations and the Circle M Convenience Store on Scyene Road and St. Augustine Drive.

According to police, 21-year-old Barry Johnson was leaving the store and getting into his black Ford Ranger pick-up truck when a man walked up behind him and began firing.

Johnson suffered multiple gunshot wounds and died from his injuries.

Investigators believe someone dropped the shooter off at the gas station.

Police said they see a lot of criminal activity in this area. They have surveillance cameras installed just across the street from where the shooting happened.

Officers are looking at that surveillance video to try to identify the shooter.

Investigators said they also recovered an assault rifle in the victim’s truck.
