Police Charge Homeless Man With Attempted Yacht Theft

Houston-area police have arrested a homeless man who they say tried to steal a 32-foot yacht but gave up after crashing into other boats.

The Galveston County Daily News reported that 47-year-old Matthew Kinkeade was charged with third-degree felony theft. Kinkeade was being held at the League City jail Monday on $20,000 bond.

League City police were called out to the South Shore Harbour Marina during the weekend after a witness reported a man trying to drive away with the yacht.

Police said the man didn't realize how many ties and anchors the boat had. They said the yacht crashed against the dock and other boats when he tried to drive.

Officers arrested Kinkeade after they said he gave up and left.

Online jail records didn't indicate an attorney.
