Man Rescued From Amtrak Train
Dallas Fire-Rescue had to rescue a man from the second story of an Amtrak train Thursday. It happened just before noon at Union Station in the 400 block of Houston Steet. Chopper 5 saw the man being taken to an ambulance on a stretcher. Dallas Fire-Rescue dispatch tells NBC 5 a man was injured on the train but it was unclear what his injury was.
Irving Elementary Evacuated Due to Gas Leak
Irving emergency crews helped evacuate Paul Keyes Elementary school after a gas leak was detected in the area Thursday. The building was searched and fire crews gave the OK for children and teachers to head back to class at about 9:45 a.m. Read more here.
Three Injured in Forest Hill Shooting
Police in Forest Hill are investigating a shooting that took place late Wednesday night. Officers were called to a robbery in progress along the 6100 block of Nell Street at about 11:37 p.m. When they arrived, they found two men in their 20s who had been shot in the head and another man who was injured. Paramedics took all three men, who are expected to be OK, to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth. Forest Hill Police Department detectives are actively investigating the case.
Man Shot in Fort Worth Fight
Police are looking for the person who shot a man in Fort Worth early Thursday morning along North Retta Street. Police said two men were fighting when one shot the other in the chest. The injured man was able to run for help. Later, officers surrounded the home where the shooting took place, but the gunman was gone.
Fort Worth Fire Under Investigation
The cause of an early-morning fire in Fort Worth is under investigation. The fire along the 1500 block of Humbolt Street was first reported at about 2 a.m. Thursday after an adult living at the home woke up and smelled gas. The person then realized the house was on fire. Two adults and two children were in the home at the time and all were able to escape without injury. Arson investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire. Read more here.
Three in Custody After Wild Chase
Three people are in police custody after a wild police chase in West Dallas overnight Thursday. An officer first saw five men in a truck on Singleton Boulevard and thought it looked suspicious. When the men noticed the officers they jumped from the moving truck which then slammed into a convenience store. Police were able to catch all three of the men. The truck, it turns out, was stolen in a car-jacking on Tuesday.
Rider Crashes Motorcycle in Grand Prairie
A motorcycle crash in Grand Prairie is under investigation. The crash took place on the 2700 block of Bardin Road, where officers found both the motorcycle and its rider laying in the street. Police said the bike was traveling westbound when the rider struck a center median and ended up in the eastbound lanes. The rider was transported to an area hospital, where he is listed in serious condition.
