Police Blotter: Man Shoots Himself

Here's a list of recent activities drawing the attention of North Texas law enforcement. List compiled on Aug. 22, 2011.

Man Accidentally Shoots Himself
Dallas police responded to a home at 2727 North Buckner Blvd. and found a man with a gunshot wound to his leg. He admitted that he accidentally shot himself while handling his handgun. The man was taken from his East Dallas home to Baylor in serious condition but is expect to recover.

Dead Woman Found in NE Dallas
Dallas Fire Rescue found a dead woman in her home at the Garden Ridge Apartments located at 6500 Melody Lane. Family members found her and called police. Police are officially calling the crime an unexplained death homicide.

Man Drowns Trying to Save Child
A man from Fort Worth drowned on the Oklahoma side of Lake Texoma in southern Oklahoma Sunday afternoon. The Oklahoma Lake Patrol said 38-year-old Adrian Sanchez drowned while trying to rescue a child in the Fobb Bottom area of the lake. Read the full report here

Fatal Shooting in Arlington
The Arlington Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that resulted in the death of a man in his early '20s. They found him at an apartment on the 700 block of Oakwood Monday morning. There aren't any indications that the gunshot was self-inflicted and the incident is being investigated as a homicide, according to police. The victim’s name will be released by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner.

Man Suspected of Drowning Sons
Police arrested a man this afternoon suspected of kidnapping his two sons from near a South Dallas school and drowning them. The boys were later found unresponsive near Singing Hills and East Ledbetter drives. They were taken to Children’s Medical Center in Dallas. Read more here.
