Police Blotter: Car Fire in Arlington

Here's a list of recent activities drawing the attention of North Texas law enforcement. List compiled on Aug. 31, 2011.

Car Fire in Arlington
Fire crews responded to a 2-alarm fire in Arlington Tuesday. The two story condo fire at 288 Westview Terrace started in a car under a car port, according to authorities.  Even though the condo owners were home at the time of the fire, no one was hurt.

Motorcycle Crash on I-35
A motorcyclist crashed his bike on I-35W after he clipped a guardrail and the back of an 18 wheeler going 100 mph, according to witnesses. He was ejected from his bike after he hit the big rig. His bike slid 250 yards down the freeway. Fort Worth police found the man lying in the I-35W. He was taken to a local hospital. His condition is not yet known.

Security Guard Killed
A security guard died after he was shot during a failed bank robbery in Dallas on Wednesday, police said. Dallas police said a man had entered a secure teller area at the Bank of America on the 3500 block of South Lancaster when the security guard, 55-year-old Lionel Newell, intervened. During the confrontation, the man grabbed Newell's gun and shot him. Read the full report here.
