Police Arrest Man After 70-Mile Chase Through DFW

Police said they arrested a man who led them on a chase from Fort Worth to Dallas and back overnight.

Fort Worth police saw the man sleeping in his vehicle in the parking lot of a Motel 6 in the 1200 block of South Oakland Boulevard at about midnight Thursday. Officers questioned the man, who drove away while they were checking his information.

Dallas police joined the pursuit when the man, heading east on Interstate 30, entered their jurisdiction. The man then turned north onto Interstate 35E and then headed back toward Fort Worth on Texas 183.

The chase ended shortly after authorities put spikes on southbound East Loop 820 near Randol Mill Road, police said. The man ran from his vehicle to the nearby Linda Vista Apartments, dropping his cellphone and losing a shoe in the process.

Police said they arrested the man and charged him with evading arrest. His identity and motive for fleeing have not yet been released.

The chase lasted for more than an hour and spanned about 70 miles.
