Plans In the Works For Downtown Ice Rink

Ice skating outside in the middle of downtown Dallas? It could become a possibility if members of the Woodall Rodgers Park Foundation have their way.

Since opening, visitors have already enjoyed spending time at Klyde Warren Park and later on this year they may have a place to lace up those ice skates.

According to Jody Grant, Chairman of the Woodall Rodgers Park Foundation, there are plans to build a synthetic ice rink in front of the children's park.

There are still a few details that have to be ironed out before the rink can become a possibility, according to the group.

But if everything goes according to plan, that rink would be open from November to February or March and is expected to be about 50 by 100 feet.

According to Grant, the food truck area would also be moved to encourage more people to mingle around the park.
