Plano Independent School District board members plan to eliminate more than 150 teaching jobs in an attempt to offset a budget shortfall.

The board plans to cut 110 teaching positions, 44 teacher assistants and 11 central office staffers.

Most of the positions are at the elementary school level in areas such as music, art and physical education.

The district said the cuts will save more than $7 million of its $17 million budget shortfall.
