Plano Police Search for Robber in Take-Over Heist

Plano Police are seeking public help finding the man who robbed a Comerica Bank branch Thursday take-over style.

The robbery happened during the lunch hour at the bank in the 3300 block of Premier Drive at Parker Road near Central Expressway.

Plano police officer Andrae Smith said the suspect pulled a gun, jumped over the counter, grabbed cash and dropped some as he ran out.

Smith said the method of this robbery was more alarming that the typical holdup.

“In this instance, the subject entered the bank displaying a fire arm, waiving that firearm. We had customers inside of this bank, as well as the employees,” Smith said. “Traditional robberies that we’ve seen of late, the individual approaches a teller, passes a note and it is implied that there is a weapon most times.”

Police quickly began a search of the neighborhood but did not find the robber Thursday afternoon.

“The sooner we’re able to get this individual identified, the better we’ll all be,” Smith said.

Plano detectives are checking with surrounding cities for the possibility of similar crimes.
