Authorities are investigating an apartment fire in Plano that officials say left 17 people without a home Friday morning.
Plano fire officials say 17 people are without a home after an apartment fire in Plano Friday morning.
The Windhaven Park Apartments in the 6200-block of Windhaven caught fire around 3:30 a.m. Fire officials said they don't yet know what caused the blaze.
One resident said a woman was responsible for getting everyone out of the burning apartments by going door to door and waking people up.
That woman, Mari Beth Zielinski, said it was a group effort.
"All of us were just coming together and knocking on everyone's doors," Zielinksi said.
"In three to four minutes, it was just gone," she said. "I've lost everything."
One person was injured and taken to Plano Presbyterian, fire crews said. That man was then taken to Dallas Presbyterian because of his serious injuries.
Fire crews are now investigating.
