Plane Gear Collapses Upon Landing at McKinney Airport

A small plane lost power before making an emergency landing at Collin County Regional Airport at McKinney Wednesday morning.

The single-engine plane, a 1959 Piper PA-24-250, came to rest at the edge of the runway and was intact after the landing.

According to Anna Clark with the city of McKinney, the plane lost power and the pilot tried to lower the landing gear manually.  When the plane touched down at about 11:55 a.m., the gear collapsed and the plane slid to a stop on the runway.

The airport runway is closed and may take more than an hour to reopen while the aircraft is removed.

No injuries were reported.
