Pieces of Plane Fall From Sky, Hit House

The Federal Aviation Administration has identified the mystery metal that fell from the sky and onto an occupied Denton County home last week.

The FAA confirms small compression blades from an airplane fell onto the roof of the home outside of Ponder.

The part that fell is from a jet engine typically found on an MD-80 aircraft. A spokesman for the agency said it likely came from a commercial flight that had engine trouble and had to turn back to DFW.

Several gaping holes were left in the roof when the piece hit last week. The family, who were home at the time, were not hurt by the falling blades.

The investigation into the pieces is ongoing.

There were no other reports of falling metal or damage in the immediate area.
