A man was shot in the face and leg while trying to fight off two carjackers in Dallas early Wednesday morning.

According to a tweet, officers were called to the 3200 block of South Vernon Avenue where a man had been shot during the armed robbery.

The victim was shot twice during a struggle for his wallet, once in the jaw and once in the leg. He was transported to an area hospital where he is undergoing surgery.

Police are looking for the man's vehicle, described only as a gray sport utility vehicle.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
