The North Texas Patriot Guard Riders lost a fellow rider in a crash over the weekend.

Gordon "Tex" Keahey and his female passenger, Vicki Russell, were hit head-on in Rockwall at about 6:30 p.m. Saturday when a vehicle swerved into Keahey's lane, leaving him no time to avoid the collision.

Both Keahey and Russell, who has an 11-year-old daughter, were killed in the crash.

Keahey's son, Justin, said his father hoped that his fellow riders would be part of his funeral service when he passed.

The Patriot Guard Riders are a national motorcycle club that offer support to the surviving family members of fallen American soldiers by shielding them from protestors and by riding in funeral processions.

Keahey's funeral will be Thursday in Rockwall. Funeral arrangements for Russell are not yet known.
