Pastor Opens Up Home to Congregation After Church Fire

A church pastor opened up his home Wednesday night to the congregation that lost its church to a fire.

For the congregation at Iglesia de Dios Eben-ezer in Oak Cliff, the service was a little different.

They worshiped in their pastor’s living room.

“It concerns me because we don't have the place now and I tried to look everywhere, and I can't find (one),” said Pastor Jose Reyes.

The church in the 800 block of South Tyler Street burned early Wednesday morning and members immediately scrambled to find a place to worship.

Reyes says investigators told him a short circuit might have caused the fire that damaged most of the interior of the church.

More than a dozen members piled into Reyes living room to hear the sermon on hardship. Reyes says his members will overcome the setback.

“The Lord transforms things into good things. All the people are happy. Not sad. Something good is coming to the church,” Reyes said.
