Pastor Opens Up Home to Congregation After Church Fire

A church pastor opened up his home Wednesday night to the congregation that lost its church to a fire.

For the congregation at Iglesia de Dios Eben-ezer in Oak Cliff, the service was a little different.

They worshiped in their pastorโ€™s living room.

โ€œIt concerns me because we don't have the place now and I tried to look everywhere, and I can't find (one),โ€ said Pastor Jose Reyes.

The church in the 800 block of South Tyler Street burned early Wednesday morning and members immediately scrambled to find a place to worship.

Reyes says investigators told him a short circuit might have caused the fire that damaged most of the interior of the church.

More than a dozen members piled into Reyes living room to hear the sermon on hardship. Reyes says his members will overcome the setback.

โ€œThe Lord transforms things into good things. All the people are happy. Not sad. Something good is coming to the church,โ€ Reyes said.
