Two men are safe Wednesday night after landing gear failed on their Cessna airplane at Denton Municipal Airport.

The gear failure happened at about 8 p.m.

The plane had to burn fuel and circled the airport for over an hour. The plane is registered to the US Aviation Group, a flight school.

The plane made a belly landing, and the two people inside were unscathed.

The plane is believed to have had some damage.

Two fire stations were on hand, along with emergency equipment, prepared for the worst case scenario.

The cause of the gear failure is unknown at this time.
