Parking Lots Full at Dallas Love Field

The parking lots at Dallas Love Field filled up early Thanksgiving morning, leaving very few options for people to park.

"It was horrible," said Mayra Morales. "There’s no parking."

"By the time we got here there were two spots left," said Ben Abramowitz.

Many drivers had to improvise. "The attendant told us we could park in one of the striped area where you’re normally prohibited from parking," said Abramowitz.

For some, finding parking was easier than others. But there was certainly a little luck involved.

"I went up to the second [floor] and parked right at a turn," said Peggy Cox, who parked in a no parking zone.

Nearly all 7,000 spots were taken, valet was full and even the additional private lots near the airport were bumper to bumper.

Both remote lots were full at DFW International Airport, forcing travelers to park in the more expensive lots.

Thousands of travelers, friends and family who needed parking also needed a little patience.

"We circled around [the garage] once because they had blocked off the parking garage," said Jeff Cunningham. "And then the second time we came around they were opening up the gates so we were able to find a spot on the second floor."

Terminal 1 at Love Field is in the process of being demolished to make room for additional parking.
