Joel Osteen Heckled During Sermon, 6 Arrested

Six people have been arrested after heckling Joel Osteen during his sermon at a Texas church, Houston Police said.

Each of them were escorted out of Lakewood Church Sunday morning after yelling, according to NBC affiliate KPRC in Houston.

Church members said the protesters were quoting Scripture.

Anwar Richardson said his family and several other people left the service early because of the disturbance. He also posted video of the incident on Twitter.

KPRC said Jacob Gardner, 26, Kevin Fessler, 27, Mark DeRouville, 25, Matthew Martinez, 27, Randall Valdez, 28 and Richard Trudeau, 32, are all charged with trespassing.

Houston Police said all people arrested were from the same church, which was identified as The Church of Wells in a statement released by Lakewood Church on Monday.

Lakewood Church said in the statement that it "plans to pursue criminal charges, as well as all other legal remedies, against these individuals and the Church of Wells."

It was not known if any of the people arrested had retained attorneys. An inquiry to the Church of Wells was not immediately returned.
