Open Carry Group Rallies at Texas GOP Convention

A big talker at the Texas GOP Convention in Fort Worth is gun rights, as an open carry gun rights group demonstrated outside the convention center.

A few dozen supporters gathered, with weapons strapped on their shoulders, to encourage GOP delegates to include open carry rights in their platforms.

The group walked around the convention with flags and pamphlets as spectators stopped to look.

“We want to make sure that gun rights is the number one issue when it comes to legislation,” said a group member.

“I believe in free speech but you can't yell fire in a crowded theater because it frightens everybody and walking into a restaurant with a loaded rifle frightens people,” said Bill Henderson, a delegate from Galveston of the group’s controversial demonstrations inside restaurants.
