One person is dead after being shot by a Plano police officer in North Dallas, police say.

Dallas police said Plano narcotics officers were doing an undercover operation that brought them to a Jack in the Box restaurant in Dallas at Dallas Parkway and Frankfort Road at about 11 p.m. Wednesday evening.

Investigators said that when the Plano officers were closing in on their suspect, one of the officers shot him.

The man was transported to Parkland Hospital in Dallas, where he died a short time later.

Dallas police, who are investigating the shooting, are talking to three people who were with the man and witnessed the incident.

So far, the Plano Police Department has not issued a statement on the shooting.
