Men Burned Hanging Holiday Lights at Fort Worth School

Two men were seriously burned while hanging Christmas lights at a Fort Worth Christian school Sunday night.

Lake Country Christian School hired Xtreme Holiday Lighting to decorate the tree behind the school in the 7000 block of Lake Country Drive.

The two men were in a lift bucket stringing lights when Fort Worth firefighters suspect something touched the nearby power lines, sending a shock through the metal bucket.

The company’s owner, Brandon Roten, was burned on both hands.

The other man in the bucket with him suffered burns to one hand and a leg.

“You want to make sure that whenever you’re especially decorating for the holidays, that you’re steering clear of those dangers,” said Oncor spokesman Kris Spears.

“We make it a point to urge everyone to stay away from power lines. Stay away from trees that are touching power lines” Spears said.

Roten was listed in good condition in the burn unit at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas.

An update on the condition of the other man who was injured hasn't been released.
