Officer Misconduct Investigation

El Paso police says one of their officers is being investigated for driving through a group of bicyclists on his motorcycle.

Police say Jorge Gonzalez drove through the cyclists who were blocking traffic on one of downtown El Paso's main streets and later chased one of them. There were injuries.

Riders were participating in a "Critical Mass" event to call attention to the need of improving conditions for cyclists and pedestrians in the city.

The El Paso Times reports Gonzalez already has been suspended three times for misconduct and was involved in a 2010 shooting that left a 22-year-old man paralyzed.

Gonzalez was off-duty at the time of the cyclists incident of Friday night. He also was off-duty at the time of the 2010 shooting.
