Police said an officer fatally shot a man who was holding a woman at knifepoint at a home in Irving Tuesday morning. [[421022883,C]]
Irving police said they responded to a call from a woman who said a man was trying to kill her with a knife at a home near the intersection of Story and Shady Grove roads just after 6 a.m.
When officers arrived, police said they heard screaming coming from inside the home. They forced the door open and found the man holding the woman at knifepoint.
Police said an officer shot the man after he refused to drop two large knives and release the woman.
The man was transported to Parkland Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced deceased at about 7:15 a.m.
Police said the woman was transported to Parkland Memorial Hospital with injuries that were not life threatening.
No other injuries were reported.
