Officer Injured in Two-Alarm Fire in Denton County

A police officer was injured while battled a two-alarm fire at a Denton County home Monday night..[[390980192,R]]

The fire was reported after 8 p.m. along the 3900 block of Farm-to-Market Road 407 in Northlake.

According to Robert Crawford, Northlake police chief, Sergeant Dwight Thornton suffered a fractured and dislocated shoulder while responding to "persons interfering at the scene of the fire."

Police are investigating whether Thornton was knocked down by someone, or if he slipped, Crawford said. "Sgt. Thornton is doing well and recovering at home," Crawford added in a statement Tuesday morning.

No other details have been released, including information on the cause of the fire or level of damage to the home.
