Officer Accused of Beating Son Arrested

DeSoto police arrested a Dallas police officer is accused of beating his 12-year-old son with an extension cord and a belt inside the family's home.
Sr. Cpl. Rex Jones was still in custody as of Thursday afternoon.
His son notified a counselor at school about the alleged abuse and that counselor notified police, DeSoto police said. Investigators took pictures of the boy's injuries on his arms, back and legs.
Police said Child Protective Services has been notified. The Dallas Police Department has placed Jones on administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal investigation.
