North Texas Teacher Accused of Inappropriate Communication with Minor in Oklahoma

A North Texas school teacher has been arrested on a warrant accusing him of an inappropriate relationship with a minor in Oklahoma.

Joseph Kolt Palmer, 27, is charged with engaging in sexual communication with a minor by use of technology and is jailed on a $10,000 bond.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation said Palmer allegedly sent inappropriate, sexually explicit text messages to a female student. NBC affiliate KFOR-TV reports Palmer, now employed at the Kemp Independent School District in Kaufman County, previously taught at Yale High School in Oklahoma.

Palmer was fired from his job in Oklahoma in May 2015 after the OSBI began its investigation, KFOR reports.

Kaufman County sheriff's deputies arrested Palmer on Tuesday afternoon after the felony arrest warrant was issued in Oklahoma.
