North Texas Residents Protest Dog's Fatal Shooting

Some residents in a North Texas city are criticizing the actions of a police officer who fatally shot a dog.

The Dallas Morning News reported that about 70 people gathered Saturday in Cleburne to protest the August shooting of the animal.

An online video of the incident reportedly shows the officer coaxing the dog toward him before shooting it. The video was taken from a body camera's perspective.

The Cleburne Police Department said it is still reviewing the incident.

Police have said the officer was responding to a call for help after several dogs were reported to have cornered residents in a vehicle.

The officer, who hasn't been identified, has been placed on administrative leave.

The city has asked other agencies, including the Texas Rangers, to investigate the shooting.
