North Texas Olympic Hopeful Out of Competition

Gymnast Alyssa Baumann said she'll "be cheering for Team USA from home" on her instagram

A North Texas gymnast is no longer competing in the Women's U.S. Olympic Team Trials set to take place next week. [[385066281,C]]

18-year-old Alyssa Baumann of Plano, Texas withdrew from the U.S. Olympic Team Trials - Gymnastics on Thursday after injuring her left elbow while training on the uneven bars on June 29.

In a statement from USA gymnastics, Baumann possibly "tore several ligaments and muscles, and is working with her local physician to determine the best course of treatment."

Baumann took to her instagram account on June 30 to address her supporters. [[385064841,C]]

"I'm very sad to be missing the Olympic Trials," said Baumann. "It has always been a dream of mine to compete for a spot on the Olympic team. I will be watching and supporting the girls at both Trials and the Olympics. Thank you for everyone's support."

The U.S. Women's Olympic Trials - Gymnastics are set to begin at 7:30 p.m. on July 8. You can watch the competition from 8 p.m. through 10 p.m., only on NBC 5.
