TxDOT Data Reveals Four Most Dangerous North Texas Intersections

In the state of Texas, there are more than 500,000 vehicle crashes reported every year.

Hundreds of those end in fatalities.

Using the most recent data from the Texas Department of Transportation, here are the four most dangerous intersections in North Texas:

  1. Interstate 635 and Skillman Street in Dallas
  2. Henderson Street and Weatherford Street in Fort Worth
  3. South Sherman Street and Spring Valley Road in Richardson
  4. U.S. 75 and Interstate 635 in Dallas

The Lyndon B. Johnson Freeway (I-635) and Skillman is at the top of the list of most dangerous intersection. Within the last year there have been 132 accidents and 107 injuries associated with those crashes.

The regional transportation council is working on a $65 million fix for the interchange called the “Skillman Bridge Project.”

The LBJ Freeway at U.S. 75 was also a major intersection that was a huge concern for law makers. The Dallas City Council will be working on improvements. Next year, drivers will see an upgrade to traffic signals, wheelchair ramps, and pedestrian signal poles.

In downtown Fort Worth, Henderson Street and Weatherford Street made the list with 119 accidents and 105 injuries associated with those accidents within the last three years.

The city of Richardson made improvements to the S. Sherman Street and Spring Valley Road intersection. Construction crews took out the median and pylons, which helped to ease the flow eastbound traffic.
