North Texas has both the safest city and the highest crime city in Texas, according to CQ Press' annual city crime rankings.

Allen is Texas' safest city and the ninth-safest out of 393 cities ranked nationally, while Dallas comes in last in Texas at 347th on the national list. Frisco is 20th on the national list and the second-safest city in North Texas.  It is followed Arlington, which is ranked 213th nationally and Fort Worth, which is 243rd.

Nationally, the lowest-ranked crime city is Colonie, N.Y., and Camden, N.J., has the highest crime-rate ranking.

The crime-rate rankings include cities of at least 75,000 residents and are calculated using FBI statistics in six crime categories: murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary and motor vehicle theft, according to CQ Press' Web site.
