North Texans Pack Joe Pool Lake on Labor Day

Hundreds of North Texans are spending Labor Day on the water. For the first time this year, parks and businesses surrounding Joe Pool Lake are experiencing their busiest holiday weekend.

Warm temperatures and partly cloudy skies attracted families to Lynn Creek Park.

"We actually had to get here a little earlier just to find a spot. It has been real busy," said Jose Castillo.

Castillo and his entire family spend most holidays at the park.

"It was hard to see it underwater, but I'm glad everything is back to normal and we're able to be out here."

Lynn Creek Park employees said Labor Day weekend has brought the biggest crowds of the season.

"I think it's the 'last hoorah' weekend before fall hits," said Jeff Seay, a Cleburne resident who frequently boats on Joe Pool Lake.

Oasis restaurant is located at Lynn Creek Marina. The floods forced the restaurant to close for months and it reopened in May.

The marina, docks and piers have been restored, luring families back to Joe Pool Lake.

"Nobody can predict nature, but the blessing is the docks were rebuilt and they have better slips now," said marina visitor John Arnold. "Today (Labor Day), anybody with a boat would take any and every opportunity to be out here."
