North Richland Hills Police Discontinue High-Speed Chase in Dallas

Police said they discontinued a high-speed chase that began in North Richland Hills Tuesday morning.

North Richland Hills police said officers tried to make contact with a man driving a Nissan sedan in the 6300 block of Smithfield Road at about 5:30 a.m. when the driver suddenly fled.

The driver, who police said they suspected of driving while intoxicated, headed east for about 45 minutes through Irving and into Dallas.

Police said officers terminated the chase because of impending rush hour traffic.

No injuries were reported.

The Texas Sky Ranger continued to follow the vehicle afterward. The driver continued to drive before stopping in the 3200 block of Irving Boulevard. After sitting in a parking lot for several minutes, the driver drove away.
