North Crowley Students Hold Vigil For Fallen Classmate

North Crowley High School students gathered Thursday night to remember a popular senior and football player who died of cancer on Monday.

Paul Sneed, 18, was diagnosed with lymphoma several months ago.

His mother, Bernadette Sneed, spoke from her heart at the vigil, remembering her son's final days in the hospital.

"That boy fought," she said. "He fought until he couldn't fight anymore. I want you to know his eyes told everything. He told me he loved me. And before he couldn't speak, North Crowley, I want you to know Paul loved this school. He loved your spirit."

Friends described Sneed as a talented football player, an excellent student and positive person who always smiled.

Sneed was planning to attend Kansas State University and dreamed of one day playing football as a running back for the Dallas Cowboys.

NBC 5's Scott Gordon contributed to this report.
