No Wrong-Doing in Kipenzi's Death: USDA

An inspection into the death of beloved giraffe calf, Kipenzi, has found no wrong-doing by the Dallas Zoo.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture conducted a "focused inspection" and found no issues with the zoo's staff or the habitat.

“I can tell you that there were no non-compliances that contributed to the giraffe’s death,” said USDA Spokesperson Tanya Espinosa.

Kipenzi was just shy of 4-months-old when she died after running into the perimeter edge of her habitat at the zoo late last month.

The world-famous giraffe made headlines around the world in April when her birth was broadcast live on Animal Planet and streamed live on the Internet.

NBC 5 Investigates recently looked into the zoo's inspection history.

Records showed the USDA's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service inspected the Dallas Zoo on June 15. There were no violations found during that inspection.
