No Injuries in Texas City Refinery Leak

AP

Oil refineries in Texas City.

A butane leak at a Southeast Texas refinery led to a shelter-in-place order for about an hour after emergency sirens had been activated.

No injuries were reported in the leak at Marathon's Texas City refinery. The shelter in place order was lifted Sunday night for the east side of the city.

The leak involved small amounts of hydrofluoric acid. Marathon spokeswoman Angelina Grace says crews isolated the leak.

Emergency coordinator Bruce Clawson says the incident is considered minor.
