New Payment Options for Keller ISD Bus Service

One day after saying parents would have to pay for the first semester of school bus service next month, the Keller Independent School District announced that parents will be able to pay with a payment plan.

When approving the the pay-to-ride plan Monday night, the school district originally said parents would have to pay the first semester's bill up front. A payment plan would be implemented later, bus officials said.

Parents must pay $185 per semester for the first child, with additional students costing $135 per student per semester.

But the district announced another payment option Tuesday afternoon.

Parents using a monthly payment plan must pay $48 per month for the first student and $36 per month per additional student.

Using the monthly plan for one student adds up to $192 per semester, with additional students costing $144 each. The district said the monthly prices include processing fees.

Economically disadvantaged parents, including those that qualify for the free/reduced lunch program, can pay $27 per month for a total of $108 per semester or pay $100 up front per semester.

The district said it and its bus service provider, Durham Transportation, are establishing an online payment portal. Keller ISD plans to have identification cards for students to use when they get on and off the bus that are linked to their family's account.
