New Information Revealed in Christina Morris Disappearance

The man accused of kidnapping 23-year-old Christina Morris will remain in the Collin County Detention Center on $1 million bond.

A judge denied a request Thursday by Enrique Arochi’s attorney to lower the bond or dismiss the case against Arochi after hours of testimony by Plano police detectives.

Arochi is accused of kidnapping Morris, who has been missing since Aug. 30.

Morris' mother, Jonni McElroy, called the judge’s ruling a success, adding that she feels “justice is beginning to be served.”

McElroy also delivered an emotional plea directed to Arochi after court was dismissed.

"Do the right thing. Do the right thing. Feel my cry, my pain and your family's pain,” McElroy said. "Feel all our pain and tell us where she is."

New information was revealed Thursday, though, when 380th District Court Judge Benjamin Smith ruled that recorded tapes could be played in court.

Police revealed that Morris' DNA was found on Arochi's trunk mat in his car, not just around the trunk. They also revealed that there was more than just trace amounts of DNA in the vehicle.

A Plano police DNA expert also testified it’s possible that DNA came from blood.

“I think the hardest part is knowing there is a lot more DNA than we thought was in the car,” said McElroy.

The search for Christina Morris is an ongoing investigation.

So far, the prosecution's case is strongly based on the DNA found in Arochi's trunk and a list of stories he told investigators that have been proven to be lies.

Arochi was the last person seen with Morris the night she disappeared from the Shops at Legacy in Plano.

There is no scheduled date for a grand jury to hear evidence in the case and, potentially, indict Arochi in her kidnapping.
