New Grapevine Resort Adds to Tourist Destination

Construction on a $330 million resort and water park will start in Grapevine in 2017, adding to a growing number of tourist destinations in the city.

It will be the first resort in Texas for developer Stand Rock Hospitality, and phase one of the 1,020-room resort. It will include 420 guest suites, a 170,000 square foot indoor-outdoor water park and an entertainment center.

Futures phases of the development will include 200 vacation ownership condominiums, 400 guests suites and an expansion of the water park.

"[The city can] definitely can support the business," said Leigh Lyons with Grapevine Convention and Visitors Bureau.

The property will sit adjacent to other attractions like Grapevine Mills Mall, Bass Pro Outdoor World, LEGOLAND Discovery Center and SEA LIFE Grapevine.

"The city welcomes about 20 million visitors each year," Lyons said. "Some of those are day visitors; many of those are overnight visitors, guests in the hotels."

Eighty-three percent of sales tax revenue is generated by visitors in Grapevine, according to Lyons.
