New Era at Texas Wesleyan University Begins

New Texas Wesleyan president inaugurated

The new president of Texas Wesleyan University says he wants to prepare students to be critical thinkers and make graduate school accessible to those with work and family obligations.

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported that Frederick Slabach was inaugurated Friday in a ceremony that included a keynote address from former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright. Slabach and Albright worked together at the Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation.

Albright said Slabach's emphasis on critical thinking is needed because "you don't have to be an expert in foreign policy to know that our globe has suffered a great deal in the past from wishful and simplistic thinkers, not to mention those who failed to think at all."
