The new city manager for Dallas will be making the same annual salary as President Barack Obama.

The Dallas City Council on Wednesday set $400,000 as the yearly pay for A.C. Gonzalez.

Gonzalez, who earned $250,000 annually as interim city manager, is in charge of about 13,000 employees and a nearly $3 billion budget.

Gonzalez on Jan. 21 was promoted from interim city manager to city manager, replacing Mary Suhm, who worked for Dallas for 35 years in various city positions.

Suhm spent eight years as Dallas city manager and was earning $305,000 annually at the time of her retirement.
