Dallas City Councilman Jerry Allen announced plans Wednesday morning that could save you money.
The city, along with more than 20 banks and credit unions, are teaming up for the new "Bank on Dallas" program.
The goal is to offer basic financial services to more than 25,000 low- and moderate-income families.
Organizers say they hope the new plan will help people save money and build a better credit rating.
