Northwest ISD Rolls Out Mock Bus Run

Bus drivers for Northwest Independent School District participated in a “mock bus run” before sunrise Tuesday, just about a week before the first day of school.

There are 165 bus routes, including 5 new additional routes in the growing school district. Bus drivers stop at routes throughout three separate counties: Tarrant County, Denton County and Wise County.

It takes roughly one to two weeks to detect and correct any changes that need to be made before 13,700 students board the buses.

The goal is to get a head start and make necessary changes before students set foot on the bus.

Each bus is equipped with three inside cameras, and a new camera mounted on the windshield pointed toward outside traffic. A GPS device has also been placed inside of each bus. Parents can download the district GPS app to track their child’s bus during the route.
