NBC 5 and Telemundo 39 Win 32 Lone Star Emmys

Both NBCUniversal-owned Stations Were Recognized for Having the Best “Morning/Daytime Newscast” and “Evening Newscast” in English and Spanish-language categories and for their “Investigative Report – Single Story” Reports

The Lone Star Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences awarded NBC 5 and Telemundo 39 a total of 32 Lone Star Emmy Awards during the 13th annual awards gala held on Saturday, November 7 in Austin, Texas.

NBC 5 received 12 Emmy awards across various categories recognizing a variety of teams and individuals while Telemundo 39 received 20 Emmy awards, the most awards it’s ever received in a single year and the most of any Texas television station.

Both stations took the top honors for having the best "Morning/Daytime Newscast" and "Evening Newscast" in both English and Spanish-language categories, in larger markets. In the "Investigative Report – Single Story" category, NBC 5 won for "Injured Heroes, Broken Promises" and Telemundo 39 won for "Fake Immigration Lawyer."

"The Emmys are a symbol of excellence among our media," said John Trevino, President and General Manager of Telemundo 39. "I am proud of my entire staff for all their hard work, commitment and dedication; they are deserving of all their individual and team recognitions. Receiving the award for overall station excellence is a wonderful tribute to everyone’s hard work."

"Our journalists and those that support them strive to deliver meaningful stories that North Texans connect with every day," said Tom Ehlmann, NBC 5 President and General Manager. "It’s an honor to be recognized with so many Lone Star Emmy Awards."
